Emergency officials are closing Boulder Creek to rafters and inner tubers in an attempt to prevent them from getting caught or drowning in snowmelt-driven rapids. The Boulder County Sheriff's Office said it will close the creek at 7 a.m. Wednesday May 25, 2005 to watercraft from Barker Dam near Nederland to the Weld County Line, north of Erie. It will remain open to kayakers. The creek was running at somewhere close to 600 cfs according to kayakers on the scene Tuesday..(MARC PISCOTTY/ © 2005)
