Hurricane Katrina survivor Cash Smith and his two children are reunited with other family members at DIA after being separated in the aftermath of the hurricane

Hurricane Katrina evacuee Cash Smith, 24, of New Orleans and his two kids Betty Ann Matthews, 7, and Tahj Sweeting, 4, were reunited with other family members Monday September 5, 2005 at DIA through the efforts of Rocky Mountain Relief, a grass-roots effort that is helping people to relocate to Denver in the wake of the disaster. The family members were separated while trying to leave the Superdome after the flooding overtook the city and Smith said he likes what he's seen so far of Denver and the generosity of strangers here. He said, "we'll start over from scratch here in Denver". Frontier Airlines, Sage Hospitality and Doubletree hotels have all donated flights, lodging and meals in the effort. Cash Smith (right) embraces his common-law wife Latoya Matthews (far right) as Tahj Sweeting (left center, in striped shirt) and Sam Smith (far left) hug in the background. Sam Smith is Cash's little brother..(MARC PISCOTTY / © 2005)
