SHOT 4/30/23 3:07:34 PM - Travelers stop at a small roadside capilla atop a mountain pass featuring San Judas Tadeo near Los Encinitos, Baja California Sur, Mexico. Capillas are a place for travelers to rest and pray for protection on their journey. San Judas Tadeo, commonly known as Saint Jude was one of the Twelve Apostles. Depictions of this saint, especially in Mexico, include a medallion on the chest with Christ’s image (representing evangelism), a staff and a hatchet (reminder of his martyrdom). He is considered to be a direct intercessor to Jesus Christ and as a saint to appeal to in difficult and desperate situations and is credited with many miracles. (Photo by Marc Piscotty © 2023)
