SHOT 4/10/10 1:49:48 PM - Leslie Hager of Idaho Springs, Co. holds family photos in the family's home outside of Denver. The Hagers have been married for more than 23 years and for 18 of those years Steven cared for Leslie as she suffered through complications from Arnold-Chiari malformation. The condition is a malformation of the brain and can cause headaches, fatigue, muscle weakness in the head and face, difficulty swallowing, dizziness, nausea, impaired coordination, and paralysis. Leslie said the pain and migraines were so bad that she tried to commit suicide at one point before being diagnosed and undergoing surgery that has alleviated much of the pain and other symptoms. The couple was one of a number profiled in "Us: Americans Talk About Love" written by John Bowe. (Photo by Marc Piscotty / © 2010)
