SHOT 4/29/23 1:09:53 PM - An antique framed picture of Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe inside a seaside capilla at Punta Lobos near Todos Santos, Mexico. Our Lady of Guadalupe is a powerful and ubiquitous symbol of Mexican identity because some guess that Our Lady of Guadalupe's skin tone matches that of Mexico's indigenous population: light brown. She is as much revered for her striking similarity to the vanquished native Mexican population as she is for being the mother of God. Often times the capillas contain prayer candles, pictures, personal artifacts or notes of thanks and are a place for travelers to rest and pray for protection on their journey.
